Make More Money: Optimize Gross Profit

This workshop is an overview of how to optimize gross profit on a “Drive for 45% gross profit.” We will spend some time reviewing weighted gross profit and the key drivers of sales mix and per department gross profit. We will highlight the key moments of truth to drive the results. We will then delve into how to drive sales mix and optimal sales performance to include discussion on things like repairing plastics. We will also review the drivers of costs and their impact on profitability. Finally, we will review the pre-closing and closing review of the process.

Speaker Spotlight

Jason Moseley: A World of Opportunity – Insights from the global collision repair industry
Jason is the IBIS CEO. His vision and mission are to grow the IBIS brand globally and continue to expand IBIS as the leading thought-leadership organisation for the worldwide collision repair market. He also takes a very active role in many of the IBIS conferences as the conference director. Previously Jason was a Board Director at the Retail Motor Industry Federation heading up the collision repair division. Prior to that he spent six years at Solera in a senior global role, developing and deploying core data and product solutions to the various Audatex markets. Before joining Solera, Jason was Chief Operating Officer at Thatcham (The Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre), where he established the first UK market parts certification programme, bringing quality and transparency to the sector. In 2006, he was the industry driver of the UK´s highly regarded repair standard and the associated implementation of the assessment scheme, that continues to be the benchmark. This culminated in Jason receiving the 2007 Collision Industry outstanding achievement award. In 2010, his team launched a new interactive online repair and maintenance data solution for bodyshops and garages. He has sat as a non-executive director on a number of boards and particularly enjoyed his time with the Institute of the Motor Industry Awards Board, focusing on raising skills and recognition of individuals in the automotive aftermarket. Jason holds a Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree and has also held senior positions in various global automotive first tier supplier businesses. In his spare time Jason likes to play tennis and cycle as well as enjoy time with his family.

Steve Trapp: Make More Money – Optimizing Gross Profit
Steve, the son of a family of body shop owners, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Economics with a minor in accounting. He started his career in the collision industry with 3M with the ARM$ program. He then started North America’s first value added program and first 20-groups with a standard chart of accounts. He moved into shop operations with ABRA Auto Body and Glass as a Vice President. 11 years ago he joined DuPont / Axalta and has helped write their management training curriculum, develop innovative e-Learning modules, refined their performance management tool, and other services. He currently manages 9 Strategic Account Managers in the US and all of Canada, who provide account guidance for Axalta’s largest customers.

 


 

Justin Jakubiak: Law & Liability of Repair
Justin Jakubiak is a partner with Fogler, Rubinoff LLP and is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a specialist in Civil Litigation. He is one of the few Ontario lawyers whose practice focuses on automotive and dealership law, with a long history of working for dealerships, repairers and mechanics throughout the province. Jakubiak’s experience, developed over the course of 15 years, together with the support of a full service law firm, allows him to assist clients with a wide range of matters, including: licensing, litigation, compliance audits, business and financing agreements, mergers, acquisitions, commercial leasing and more. With a client centred approach, Jakubiak is dedicated to providing efficient and cost effective solutions, with the goal of creating long lasting and meaningful business relationships.

 


 

Daniel Chudy: Test your knowledge
Daniel is an Autobody and Collision Damage repairer and Automotive Painter.

For more than 10 years he has been a professor at the School of Transportation, Centennial College.

He is also a world Skills Canadian expert in Autobody Repair, NTC Skills Canada Car Painting, and Technical Chair for Skills Ontario – Automotive Painting.

Registration includes the showcase, Thursday’s reception, hors d’oeuvres and food stations, as well as Friday’s CCIF meeting, breakfast & lunch. Name badges will be available onsite at the registration desk as of 4pm on Thursday, January 30 and 7am on Friday, January 31.

Early bird registration fee of $159 is in effect until midnight (EST) Friday, December 27th.
